  48.  @AverageAlien  .....I want the human society to change, and individuals to become their better selves....and our goals become more than mere accumulation of wealth...towards art, self growth, enjoyment of each other's company, leisure, literature, scientific discoveries and the like. If you have endless resources of space and automation to boot, there is no scarcity economy anymore. There is no large need for capitalism in a space based non-scarcity economy. Such an opportunity calls for a better system where just chances of birth won't impede the progress for a statistically large portion of people. You see the dystopia around you today? The poverty of people, their misery and the uncaring nature of a society that can help but chooses not to? That is Systemic failure. Just because you and I were lucky to escape it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. You will have this dystopia magnified on a gigantic scale. Corporations that own planets and are more powerful than countries. Already Google and Amazon are building spaceships. That is corporatocracy. Not capitalism. Perhaps you don't see all this. I didn't at first. privilege brings rosy sunglasses. If you add immortality and possibly cybernetics to add to that privilege, you further attenuate the humanity within us. Our empathy. What makes life worth living? Other people. Relationships. Love. You wouldn't want to be a king of paupers. If they were happy..and your community loved you. You would be happy too. FTL travel won't happen probably. Immortality might. AI will happen. It is just a bigger dystopia then. Nothing else. Technologies without ethical growth.
