  1. I travel overseas very frequently - on average, at least once every 6 weeks. I have ONCE had my laptop searched - when leaving Türkiye to come home, and all they cared about was that it turned on. That was 6-7 years ago, and I remember looking for details afterwards because I thought it was odd... they were acting on very detailed intelligence specifically stating something along the lines of "a plane from Türkiye going to the UK has been threatened." I think your statement of "you have your laptop searched whenever you cross the border" shows just how naive you may be on this topic.
