  1. One would hope that innocence does not need to be proven/decided. Sadly in many cases it does need to be proven, such as JD did.

  2. Prosecuting false accusations comes with a lot of real world problems. There is likely to be a "blast radius" of other innocent people that are affected, and then there's the wider public image of "X said a thing, and was prosecuted for it." Sadly, a lot of people don't dig into the details, and take statements from others on face value.
