These "priorities" aren't really priorities. They're more akin to "responsibilities." Yes, a pedestrian stepping out in front of traffic is idiotic. But they will get injured more than your average car driver. The clip in question, the cammer and the BMW in front of it clearly do not have an interruption in their direction of travel (by road signage), the junction is to their right. The pedestrian is clearly in the wrong, causing vehicles to brake so that they can cross at an uncontrolled junction. However, had something untoward happened, the BMW driver would have likely taken some of the responsibility under the new system. Did this particular scenario cause "mayhem" - clearly not. Some people had a minor inconvenience and everyone went about their day. No car driver experienced more than a 60 second delay. I posit that yes, the pedestrian is an idiot, but all the car drivers behaved as per the intentions behind the new rules, and it really wasn't a problem. Could there be worse situations than this example? Certainly. Feel free to post one for an opinion on that.
