Media companies, being companies, have a responsibility to their shareholders. Sensationalistic reporting practices, particularly where divisive opinions are being discussed sell more newspapers and generate more clicks (and therefore advertising revenue). Simple market economics at play. No-one ever said things had to be fair, or completely true. In the latter, if the facts are so egregiously wrong, slander laws exist. Those slander laws would not exist if all reporting was solely limited to the truth. To give journalists whatever credit they may deserve, perhaps someone has made such an article about his release... and perhaps the editorial team has chosen not to publish it, because they want the space for something they consider more important (and by "space", I'm including bandwidth for online media).
