Thats not exactly true about slavery not being banned untill the 19th century in England. Slavery was actually banned in England in 1102 and many slavery cases have referred to this fact since. Including the famous Somerset case of 1772 which repeated the line that "as soon as a Slave set foot in England he is free" . After the Somerset case another 15,000 former slaves found their freedom in England.

Field Marshall Montgomery who was Supreme commander of all armies invaded Normany in 1944 in Operation Overlord and was a descended of the Normans.

@thomasmiles9068 A slave was just property and could be bought and sold and separated from family members. A self was not bought and sold and lived with his family in the same area for generations. Neither were great, but sefs weren't slaves.

@michaeltelson9798 This is most probably just a myth spread around to cast doubt on his entitlement to the crown. Edward was born in 1442 yet this rumours didn't emerge untill 1483, it's hardly likely his father would have made him his heir if he was another mans son.

Being born a 'bastard' was as a result of the Catholic church trying to impose their rules on people. Before the Christian church which is only 2,000 years old we were all born bastards for the 2million years previously.

Germanic is not the same as German, the Germanic people originated in Scandinavia.
