The colonists complained that they had no representation in the British Parliament but when it was offered to them, they rejected it. Obviously because it would destroy the main reason for their grievance. Also the celebrated Boston tea Party was not as claimed, the smugglers who threw British tea into the river did it because it was cheaper than their contraband tea, not because it was taxed and dearer. Much of American history is built on mythical anti British propoganda I'm afraid.
