Edward Colston is always described as a slave trader, yet he actualy inherited his wealth from his father, not from the slave trade. Edward Colston then followed his father as a Merchant trading in textiles and wines etc, it was only when he became deputy Governor of the Royal Aftica Company that he was in any way involved in slave trading. When he himself died he left all his money to charitable causes as he had no children, Therefore, he wasnt all bad, but this is never mentioned. However, when the judge has the 'Historian' David Olusogo as a witness, we can all see where this judgement will go.
