  1. During WW2 Enoch Powell joined the Army as a private, but he was so brilliant he was soon promoted to become the youngest Brigadier in the British Army. While in India he made friends with an Indian officer but when they arrived at the check in desk of a colonial Hotel he was told it was for whites only and his Indian friend could not stay. Enoch said, If he is not good enough neither an I and they both left and found another hotel. The two and their families remained friends for the their lives. Enoch Powell was not a racist, but he did predict the folly of mass uncontrolled immigration and events have proved him right!
