One little disagreement Simon. DDay wasn't the beginning of the liberation of Europe. That had already begun in 1943 with the first invasion of mainland Europe, in Italy. It was also the first Axis surrender, the first fall of Hitlers main Ally Mussolini and the first surrender of German forces on mainland Europe, 1million in total. I mention this, because this campaing is so often and unjustly overlooked. Also my father fought there and he would be absolutely appalled if he could hear the senseless criticism of so many brave men that fought and often gave their young lives so that these idiots had the free speech to ignorantly condemn far better men than they will ever be.
