I was going to answer your question by saying that the population of Sydenham is probably predominately black. However, after looking up the data I find black people only represent 24% of the population there, while White people represent 58%. Therefore, why change a childrens classic that will alienate the majority of your audience ? You ask the same question about advertising, British history and even science, where all have had black characters inserted where they didn't exist in reality, but why ? There are plenty of ancient African myths and fables so why appropriate our ?
