As time passes many laws are rewritten to come to terms with new conditions. British Judges originally wrote the ECHR laws, however, that was after WW2, and times have changed. Many countries that are signed up to the ECHR have passed legislation to remove some parts of it, and I expect this is the course of action the Government will pursue rather than leaving it altogether.

@barryfoster453 Yes he will, if Boris wants a second term in office. He was elected and given that 80 seat majority to deliver Brexit, and sort out the mass uncontrolled immigration that we have suffered for years. However, with the NI protocol in place Brexit hasn't been delivered in full, and immigration continues to be out of control, especially the illegal channel crossings. The result of this, is Boris has now lost his commanding lead in the polls and is now facing defeat in the next elections. That's why suddenly there is movement, on both the protocol and the ilegal channel crossings.

@barryfoster453 I do understand the situation, but to stop this illegal immigration we first need the will to do it, then no one will cross. However, I wonder if much of the talk from Government is just all wind and fury, but no substance. Time will tell, meanwhile we must keep up the pressure .
