  1.  @davidsingh2394  India was on it's way for Independence long before WW2. Though Gandhi wanted it to become a self governing British protectorate, not full independence. This was probably because he knew India wouldn't survive as a single country containing Muslims and Hindus, which necessitated Partition. So the British didn't kill 4million, Independence did.
