@DaleSteel VAT is an EU tax at 20% standard rate and yet despite leaving we still pay it ?????? How many Brits spend more than 3 months in Europe ? Even my French wife doesn't. This would all confirm that all the previous comments that we never really left are correct and you are wrong.

Sorry Simon, but you never voted to join the EEC/EU in 1975 because we were already members. We were taken in illegally in 1972 by PM Edward Heath who broke our Constitution to do it because public opinion was 3 to 1 against joining. In 1975 a Referendum was arranged by the new Labour Government to legalise Heaths treachery. However, this was only won after a massive publicity campaign by the EEC/EU where all the news papers and TV channels advocated remaining. This would now be illegal under Electoral Commission rules and quite rightly so.
