  1. The latest theories on the 'Anglo Saxons,' which interestingly is a name they never used themselves. Is that, it wasn't the violent takeover that the Christian monk Bede has led us to believe. This is also confirmed by DNA where the majority of the current population have more Celtic dna than A/S. In fact many of the graves that archeologist previously attributed to A/S have now been confirmed by their DNA as Celts. Even the founding father of the A/S kingdom of Wessex, King Cerdric has a Celtic name as did his successor King Cyndric. Even later, King Alfred's leader of his elite troop of horse was a man called Wulfric. However, though this is a Saxon name he was actually a Welsh sub king, not saxon at all.
