Olusoga is not a Historian, historians tell us about the past based on the facts that have been uncovered. Olusoga, on the other hand has a racist, anti British, predetermined agenda, and then makes his 'facts' fit. He is at best a poor fiction writer and propagandist and should be referred to as such, not elevated to a position he has no expertise in at all in.

@MadManRob1 Building schools to educate the poor and other charitable works is hardly done 'indirectly' . He could have spent his wealth on himself, but he chose to help those less privileged, a truly enlightened man who should be revered not attacked. Oluwogu isnt in the same category and is not fit to lick his boots.

Also to add to what you have said, Colston was not a slave trader, he was a Merchant like his father and grandfather before him. Only I his later life did he buy shares in the RAC so he could trade in African goods which happen to include slaves, just as they do today.

@mangomasheen2324 Yes you are right Mango, only long dead African slaves seem to matter. Yet slavery continues in Africa today and is larger than ever, but white men aren't involved, so it's not mentioned. In fact the Transatlantic Slave trade has become THE slave trade. Though in Europe itself the Vikings were Europes largest slave traders trading white Europeans buf they are not mentioned. Or the Asian slaves still today in China and parts of the Indian subcontinent, they don't count apparently. This isn't really about slavery, it's about attacking Britain, even though we banned slavery throughout our vast Empire, but again that's not mentioned.

@Edward Colston Yes you are right, in fact Colston had already made his fortune as a Merchant in Europe long before he bought shares in the RAC so he could trade in Africa too. Also slaves were just one of the 'commodities' traded by the RAC it wasnt exclusively slave trading, and Colston himself didnt personally trade in slaves. But Olusago isn't interested in historical facts, only in racist propoganda.

In fact Mayhar Tousi had a report on his news channel yesterday with a recording of British Border Farce liasing with their French counterparts to enter French waters to pick up illegal immigrants and ferry them to Dover. So now our Border Farce are themselves people traffickers. The Captain should be charged with trafficking and treason, we pay him to protect our borders not breach them !

@Edward Colston A very good point Edward! Those vandals who attacked Colston statue because they were enraged by the shares he owned 300 yrs ago were probably wearing trainers and jeans made by slave workers and filming it all on their smart phones also made by slaves. But because they like cheap goods they ignore its origins, yet they are filled with indignant rage about a man who made some of his money connected to slavery, even though he gave it all away to the poor. I wonder what they have done for the poor ? Apart from supporting industries that employ them as slave labour.

@frogscotch19 Yes indeed, if fact, these illegal workers were forced to work during Covid by their ruthless bosses. Where were the BLM protesters outside these sweatshops ? Not black enough no doubt, or perhaps because their exploiters are not long dead white men.

@mangomasheen2324 It all goes back to the European Court of Human rights, who have given illegal immigrants more rights than they deserve. We need to amend it,or leave it, and I'm hoping the Government will do this after they sort the current trade dispute out. Untill that day, it seems illegals are above and beyond the law. BLM are only interested in the Trans Atlantic slave trade of 300 year ago. The reason for this is so the can attack us and demand reparations. Modern slave traders would shoot them if they tried to stop them or interfere. BLM are opportunists not moral guardians against slavery. The leader and founder of BLM in the USA has just had to resign after it was revealed she has spent the $millions she recieved in donations on mansions for herself, not helping poor blacks as she claimed.
