Why didnt they vote, was it through apathy, or intimidation ? I heard that even those standing recieved death threats and the dodgy postal votes have almost doubled from the last election. Postal voting should be restricted to those who are ill of serving in the armed forces, not for able bodied people to abuse.

The UK has a full written Constitution and it's the oldest in the world. The US Constitution is based on it.

Supermarkets are obviously profiteering because as you said, wholesale food prices have fallen but food on the supermarket shelves has stayed high. Though according to Oxford Economics June 2023 report British food is still 7% cheaper than food in the EU.

@jbloun911 The UK also has a Bill of Rights from 1689. However, Governments often try to circumnavigate the laws just as they are doing here in the UK now and they did in the US previously.

Many Tory politicians like Lizz Truss have the right ideas but never get into a position of power accept by actual members votes. However , once in power they are removed just as she was, its the party hierarchy thats been currupted not the politicians themselves. How else do you explain Fishi Sunaks meteoric rise through the ranks to become PM in record time and against the votes of members? Reform are not perfect, but they are our only chance to save Britain.

Not true ! Black taxi drivers have to buy a specially designed and expensive black cab. They also have to complete training to gain the 'Knowledge', before they can get a Hackney Cab licence. Yet Uber drivers and their like only need a car, any car. So hardly equal !

@jbloun911 Codified or not, Governments will try and sometimes succeed in circumventing Constitutions including the codified American version. The only bulwark against this is the vigilance of the people themselves to defend and enforce their will, which the Constitution is a written declaration of.

@jbloun911 I'm not American so how can I be a patriotic American? A Constitution monarchy is the preferred system of the British people and though like all systems it has its faults it's still the only system that has stood the test of time.

@MelissasArt The UK Constitution is the worlds oldest and largest and it's all written down and always has been since King Alfred's Doombok of the 9th century.

@jbloun911 England became a Republic in the 17th century, but we didnt like it and so we reinstated a new King as head of state. However, we are governed by a Constitutional democratic Parliament which has worked well since the 13th century.

@jbloun911 Britain doesn't have a caste system, you are thinking of India. Also the house of Lords hasn't been hierarchical since the Act of 1999.

@jbloun911 The House of Lords is Parliaments second chamber full of experts who debate and suggest amendments to bill from the House of Commons. However, it does need to be slimmed down and reformed, but not abolished. The American Constitution is based on the British Constitution and not being codified doesnt alter a thing. The American Constitution is Codified but it's still been abused. Also we do have a Supreme Court and a Bill of Rights it was was passed in 1689.

If a Lorry driver unknowingly transports illegals across the channel he is fined £1000 per illegal. The RNLI is knowingly transporting up to 1000 on one trip alone, so why are they not being fined ? If they were, it would stop this invasion straight away, so why the double standards ?

The Government cannot enact laws without a mandate from the Sovereign electorate, that's why they have a manifesto that we vote on and approve. At no time was ULEZ part of any Government manifesto, let alone Khans, so it's illegal.

Rishi Sunak recieved 63.6% of the vote in the last GE election to become an MP, far more than George Galloways 15 %. However, this was in the safe seat he was put into , so his rise to Parliament and then to PM has been phenomenal. Why was he offered this safe seat ? Why was he rejected twice by party members to become their leader ? And why were party members ignored in the third instance so that he was guaranteed the position as PM ? So though George's election result reeks of corruption, so does Sunaks !
