@jwenting If these resources had fallen into German hands they would have used them against GB, the only country left fighting them.

@HistoryHustle The Germans didnt think the British moral was low, after the Battle of France they praised British tenacity even amongst the poorly trained and equipped Territorials.

@jwenting At that point these resources no longer belonged to an ally, they belonged to Germany and needed to be destroyed. The Germans themselves bombed Rotterdam killing 900 people and making 80,000 homeless Also around 25,000 Dutch men fought in the Waffen SS and many others collaborated.

@jwenting Yes and that's the big difference, the Brits bombed strategic sites so they couldn't fall into German hands, the Germans bombed the the city full of civilians.

@jwenting Sorry Captain Duckman but that's nonsense. If the Dutch hadn't been a neutral country British troops could have been based there as they were in France. But the Dutch decided to remain neutral and so by the time the Germans attacked all the British could do was to stop them gaining Dutch resources to further their aims. Especially when you consider Dutch resistance only lasted five days, what could anyone do in such a short time period but what they did.
