  1. The Reformation didn't start in Britain in the 16th century because of the German Martin Luther, but much earlier in the 14th century. English theologian John Wycliffe known as the 'Morning Star of the Reformation' preached a return to the pre Roman christianity and his writings were translated and known across Europe. Wycliffe was the first to translate the Bible into English. This English bible was owned by many nobels including King Richard III and Anne Boleyn who drew King Henry VIII attention to Wycliffes assertion that the Roman Pope is in fact not mentioned anywhere in the Bible and therefore is the anti- christ. Wycliffe supporters known as Lollards pinned their religious proclamation on the doors or Westminster Hall long before Martin Luther did this in Germany. Wycliffe also preached Devine Lordship and that Kings recieved their power straight from God, not the Pope, which pleased King Henry greatly. Therefore, Henry proclaimed himself head of the Anglican church and granted his own divorce.
