  1. Polish pilots deserve recognition for their role in the Battle of Britain. However, I think their role has been rather exaggerated. Out of 2,973 pilots who were awarded the RAF clasp for participating in the Battle of Britain 80% were British with another 10% from the British Commonwealth which included 98 from NZ, 86 Canadians,21 Australians, 20 South Africans . Of the remaining 10% only 139 were Polish and their top scorer was actually one of 83 Czech pilots, Josef Frantisek. All these brave and very young pilots deserve our praise, from whatever country they came from, including the thousands of British pilots who made up the vast majority.
