  1. This battle wasn't fought by the British Empire, it was fought by the East India Company who had their own army.

  2. @TheHistoryChap  All troops used were part of the Presidencies armies and belonged to the East India Company. After the Indian Mutiny of 1857 the British Parliament past the Government of India Act and in 1858 the East India Company was abolished and all its assets and Presidencies came under the direct control of the British Crown.
