  1. My grandfather served with the 1st Battalion the Middlesex regiment with the BEF during WWI. Before that he had served in India and was present at the Dehli Durban when the King was crowned Emperor of India. He was also involved in the retreat from Mons and latter won the Military Medal during the bloody battle of the Somme for delivering ammunition underfire to the forward trenches. He was demombed in 1918 and his first child my father was born in 1919 and only 20 years later he returned with a new BEF in 1939 to continue the fight against the Germans. Lest We Forget ! 🌹🇬🇧
