  1. ​ @cjshow-zp6nh  very fast reason brunei was rich is that it has oil in its land so they mine that oil to use as trade. Singaporw also does that tho they take oil from indonesia and sell it at a higher price. Ill give you a better example. Kiribati and singapore are almost same in land mass but kiribati is bigger but no hills or mountains like singapore has. Kiribati is surrounded by sea just like singapore but it has no nearby land masses. The nearest landmass would be new zealand which is several thousand kms away. Kiribati has a ancient history of 2000 years instead of 700 years. Kiribati has no resources unfortunately no trading partners because they aren't in a strait but in the middle of nowhere. Kiribati has a population of 130k plus but no actual skyscrapers nor big infrastructure. Compared to singapore its a desolate place with atolls and is constantly flooding. Singapore meanwhile has 6 million inhabitants who live in the malacca strait with constant trades with other countries and is a manufacturer for chips and many other machinery. So in that sense kiribati is blessed with almost nothing but quite a population.
