  1. 1. Always pay your credit card in full each month. If you can't afford to buy something then what makes you think you can afford to buy it PLUS 25% interest? Stupid, stupid, stupid. Use your credit card for convenience only. 2. Use free antenna tv. You don't need to pay for cable tv. 3. Lose the smart phone. Is your stupid text or phone call so important that you have to do it in the car? 4. Stop eating out and learn to cook at home. Instead of blowing $20 for 1 dinner out you can buy enough food for a few days at home. You're welcome.

  2. The sooner the better. Decades of weekly saving and compounded interest/reinvestment of dividends will make you a millionaire. It's basic math. If you wait until your 40s and 50s it's too late. It takes discipline and sacrifice. Pay yourself first: your first expense should be to your retirement fund. Then food, rent, etc. It requires you to live within your means. If you can't afford stuff then you just do without it. Can't afford a new car? Oh well. Can't afford cable tv? Oh well. Can't afford a smart phone? Oh well. The problem is people have no discipline to sacrifice. I have no sympathy for those people when they reach their 60s and have nothing saved. They made their choices and will have to live with the consequences.
