To show support for free speech the churches in Oil City should inscribe their pews with quotes from atheists and have Tucker Carlson pay for it.

Poor oppressed Christians. This bench was their only way of expressing their belief in god. If only they lived in a free country with plenty of opportunities to practice their religion, send their kids to parochial school, go to church to worship, etc.

if atheists are wrong then why don't churches give them equal time in church sermons?

Seems to me one of your "numerous churches" would be the perfect place to put a religiously inscribed bench. But we know that Christians aren't happy unless they are forcing their beliefs on others.

I agree it's just a bench so why did Christians have to ruin it by adding a religious inscription?

If that's what it tells you then you don't understand.

I can feel the love of Jesus in your words. Fucking hypocrite Christian.

Don't look at it? Don't sit on it? Are you serious? Non-believers are forced to look at Christian symbols all the time. They're everywhere. So when Christians get upset at having a public religious inscription on a bench removed it just shows how arrogant and spoiled they are. Christians love to preach to non-believers and do it all the time and don't need to do it on a PUBLIC bench used by non-believers. Christians won't respect atheists' right to be free from religion so atheists have no choice but to use legal measures.

I also don't care what they believe and I recognize their right to their beliefs. But my tolerance ends when they force their beliefs on me, as in a PUBLIC bench. I wonder if Christians would have your tolerance if the roles were reversed, i.e., Christians were forced to look at atheistic messages and symbols everywhere. I wonder if Christians would tolerate atheists putting a bench on church property. You know damn well that Christians do not have your level of tolerance for different beliefs; they are on a mission to convert everyone. Like you I also tolerate the constant reminders but unlike you I am always aware I'm being forced to tolerate it and I don't like it because a) I know they would not do the same and b) I don't like their presumption that their customs prevail. It's very rare that they acknowledge other beliefs. I like when a speaker offers a moment of silence rather than presuming everyone will pray. In case you haven't noticed there is VERY strong Christian movement happening that has only been emboldened by Trump's election. These zealots are anti-religious freedom, anti-evolution, anti-abortion. So I think atheists should take advantage of every opportunity to weaken them, as in this public bench incident.
