It was routine until he refused to exit the car when ordered.

@Balandrus Yup. Several people are commenting that cops have to give a reason. Wrong. They don't have to give a reason.

@ericr.3759 I was pulled over and ordered out at gunpoint. I had no idea why but you know what? I complied. I did not get sprayed or tazed or tackled. Once I was in cuffs they explained the reason. Then once they determined I was not the suspect they thought I was they let me go.

@alexscott6095 But if you were ordered to exit your vehicle you must comply. Cops don't need a reason to order you out. It's the law. Supreme Court has ruled. See PA v. Mimms. Way too many people are ignorant of this law. Ignorance of the law is no excuse.

But he didn't comply with their repeated lawful order to exit the vehicle. Similar thing happened to me. I was pulled over and ordered out at gunpoint. I complied. I didn't get sprayed or pinned to the ground.

@mo_kin Please educate yourself by watching videos of cops being shot at during an "ordinary traffic stop".
3
@heekim3373 Driver was scared; fair enough. Driver serves his country; fair enough. But none of that is a legal reason for refusing a lawful order to exit the vehicle. It's really as simple as that.
3
@LazyEye909 I can also show you videos of cops getting murdered during an "ordinary traffic stop."
2
@generalfreddie Government told you to wear masks because it saves lives. But certain idiots are like petulant children who would rather infect people than wear a mask because "you can't tell me what to do!".
2
@Everything13ish Wrong, he is required to get out when ordered. Do your homework.
1
@Everything13ish You don't know what you're talking about.
1
@IQscan51 That may be true but he still disobeyed repeated lawful order to exit.
1
@NotLikeUs17 Not even close, sweetie. I've been against Trump and his cult since 2016.
1
@earlyriser03 My car and I matched description of a wanted suspect. I leave it to you to figure out why they did what they did.
1
@turnne I totally understand the fear of racism these days. TOTALLY GET IT. But by not complying you are ONLY MAKING THINGS WORSE. I challenge you to find me ONE VIDEO of things going well when a driver doesn't comply.
1
@damrielkaari3718 Be sure to post video when YOU get forcefully removed because you refused to comply. I've watched dozens of such videos so yours won't be anything special. Some people never learn.
1
@earlyriser03 I reject the premise of your question.
1
@JakeSignalYT Imma guess you'll get tased for non-compliance.
1
@earlyriser03 What about it?
1
@earlyriser03 Maybe this will help. I think George Floyd was murdered by Chauvin. I hope Chauvin does hard time. But I also think if Floyd had just gotten in the squad things would've ended much better for him. Does that help?
1
@earlyriser03 You accused the cops who pulled me over of "violating my rights". You're wrong. If you have a point to make about a drunk driver video then make it. Stop wasting my time.
1
@ericr.3759 I was totally innocent. If you were in my place you would've argued, resisted, ranted about your rights, and given them no choice but to use force, then you would've blamed them. Thanks for proving my point.
1
@damrielkaari3718 You don't know what you're talking about.
1
@earlyriser03 I don't know else to tell you, bud. All I can say is I wish you luck next time you disobey a cop at gunpoint.
1
@earlyriser03 re Floyd, I already said Chauvin is guilty of murder. I said Floyd should've complied. But he didn't comply. To force compliance cops could've hogtied Floyd and lifted him into the squad; problem solved. Instead they suffocated him to death. Are you still somehow unclear what I think about Floyd?
1
@earlyriser03 Floyd was not in the squad car. Why are you so determined to make me the bad guy? I'm not the one who killed Floyd. Go eff yourself.
1
@TogetherAfrika22 "If he had let his hands down they would've shot him." Wrong. Cops don't shoot someone for reaching down to unbuckle. Feel free to post video of it happening. He was under suspicion because he had tinted windows and driving very slow before pulling into the gas station. I guarantee you that if he had exited the vehicle when ordered he would not have gotten sprayed and they would've told him why he was being stopped. Everybody wants to blame the cops for spraying him. But nobody wants to blame the driver for disobeying their commands. I, unlike many of you, am able to find fault on both sides. I, unlike many of you, don't fall for the fallacy that if one side did something wrong then the other side must be right.
1
@Ladybug-no9sc Sorry, i don't respond to unsourced anecdotes.
1
@mo_kin I don't know if cops followed procedure or not. I do know that if you comply when cops tell you to exit your vehicle (regardless of what color you are) your chances of getting sprayed, tased, or shot go WAAAAAAAAAAAY down. Judging by the replies I must be the exception for not wanting to get sprayed, tased, or shot.
1
@ashymclaughlin Wrong. PA v. Mimms.
1
@alexscott6095 I agree that sometimes cops can seem to be giving orders with no good reason or explanation. But there's a tactical reason for not always showing what cards you have.
1
It's not driver's job to decided whether to comply with lawful order to exit vehicle. When a cop gives a lawful order to exit vehicle it's driver's job to comply. Similar thing happened to me. I was pulled over and ordered out at gunpoint; I had no clue why. But you know what? I complied. I didn't sprayed or tazed or pinned to the ground. Once they determined I was not the suspect they were after they let me go. This driver would've avoided all this trouble if he'd just exited when ordered.
1
@lang-ed3bk He's allowed to be scared. He can ask all the questions he wants...once he's out of the car. When will people understand that this is not a negotiating table.
1
@lang-ed3bk Agreed cops don't pull guns at a normal traffic stop. But they became suspicious when driver did not pull over right away. I've seen other videos where cops spend 20 minutes ordering driver to exit and driver won't comply. At some point cops have only one way to get a non-compliant driver out of the car: by force.
1
@Blitzman364 I think the larger point is that MOST drivers who comply don't get shot or sprayed. Put another way, if you comply you are MUCH LESS LIKELY to get sprayed or shot.
1
@lang-ed3bk Who refused to get out of the car when ordered?
1
@lang-ed3bk I agree cops overreacted. My point is that drivers should always comply. If the driver is innocent he should still comply for the simple reason of not getting sprayed, tased, or shot. The driver can always go after the cops in court later. I'm a practical man; I see absolutely no benefit to getting sprayed, tased, or shot.
1
@lang-ed3bk No, you don't get my point. He was ordered several times to get out and he refused. Let me ask you something. If he'd gotten out when ordered do you think he would've gotten tased or taken to the ground?
1
@lang-ed3bk You just said "he didn't get a chance to comply". That's where you lose credibility. He had several chances to comply.
