  1. Speaking of baseball, my dad was stationed in Pearl Harbor starting in 1938. He said that prewar Pearl had the NY Yankees stop on tour there before they went to Japan. Since he was on the baseball team, he got to play the Yankees! The caveat being that they weren't the A list players but were almost as good and they were Yankees.
