  2. America has spent the last few decades completely dismantling the train networks and all of its subsidiary tracks. Train stations are underdeveloped and for the most part in the middle of nowhere. You travel by train and you're stuck for secondary transportation.

  3. The only reason that high speed rail works in communist China is because the communist party wills it so. If the communist party wants something, then it will happen regardless of political, economic, or social opposition.

  4. High speed rail will fail in the US for a number of reasons. 1. It does not make economic sense. 2. Too much local opposition. 3. High costs to build due to laws, lawsuits, and consensus on design, where it will go and costs. 4. America's reliance on automobiles.
