I remember interviewing for a job repairing typewriters. The guy had me go into another room while he "broke" the typewriter and when I came back I was supposed to fix all the problems. Well, I failed the test because I spent so much time finding all these other issues with the typewriter and was not quick enough on the things he "broke". 😂

In the 1970's when I went to college for the first time, I had a manual Underwood typewriter. I've hung onto it with the thought that if everything goes to hell, I can still use it to communicate as it doesn't need electric to work. I even have correcto tape for errors. It types whiteout over the ribbon ink. It was a bitch typing out resumes and pounding the wrong key in the last paragraph. My next typewriter was a Smith Corona electric with a self correcting ribbon. I thought that I had the world by the ass going back to college in the 1980's to finish my business degree. It was faster and easier to use than the manual. Then when I switched careers in 2000, getting my IT degree, of course I got a state of the art Winblows 98 computer with printer. Now resumes are a dream to create and print. I think everyone should be forced to use a typewriter first before a computer to appreciate the technology!
