  1. In Amsterdam, NY the trolley car tracks are still visible in places just under the asphalt of the roadways. Two generations ago you could take a trolley to Albany, Schenectady, and many local towns in the area. We have General Motors to thank for destroying the trolley car transportation system in America.

  2. Don't forget General Motors. They systematically dismantled the trolley car systems in most major American cities so that buses made by GM became the primary public transportation.

  3. @Bob Davis Speaking of having change after filling the tank with gas. Back in 1970/1971, I had a minimum wage job make $1.65 per hour making about $15 a week. I used to stop at this gas station on the way to my girlfriends because it was $.25 per gallon instead of $.27 per gallon where I lived. I had a full sized Ford with a twenty gallon tank and would run it bone dry just to save a nickel. Anyway, I would fill the tank, give the guy a $5 bill and get change back!😂 Also, I could go to the movies with her, buy popcorn and soda and still have a little left after. Just remember the good old days are relative.
