Plus the whole issue of the Aswan dam stopping the nutrient rich annual floods, which means that Egypt has gone from having some of the richest soil in the world to some of the poorest.

@ZAGAD-i2x The floods weren't destructive, they weren't even that deep and the Egyptians had handled them fine for 6,000 years by building on high areas, creating artificial islands, etc. Those floods were the lifeblood of the country, this is a known and proven fact.

Seems like a good place to build deep space telescopes.

It'd be far more efficient if the different companies just shared the same railyard, with connected track. They can then just swap locomotives, have some borrow/share/lease deal with the rolling stock and save a heck of a lot of time and money by not having to unload onto a truck for a 5 mile trip through the city just to reload.

Yeah, don't imagine Trump doing much in South America other than deporting US citizens to there. US itself is in danger of downgrading from Flawed Democracy to Failed Democracy at this point.

The other HUGE Issues are: 1. The Earth is running out of Lithium. 2. Manufacturing those batteries is extremely bad for the environment anyway, plus so much of the world still uses Fossil Fuels and Nuclear to generate electricity so EVs aren't any better for the environment than Internal Combustion anyway, in fact they can be much worse. 3. The Batteries have a maximum life of about 10 years, 5 years with Fast Charging, after which the car is a Write Off. 4. Everyone knows Hydrogen is the real answer, it's no slower to refuel than an LPG pump, doesn't need tons of batteries and the exhaust is pure water. And you don't need a new battery pack that costs the same as a new car after 5 years. The tech already exists, it just needs infrastructure, which could be accommodated by existing Fuel companies if they though it worth the investment. The cost versus the infrastructure for Fast Charging makes it more viable too.

Its really not that complicated. Colonial Exploitation for Africa, SE Asia and South America even into the middle of the 20th century. Followed by decades of war (civil, territorial and other) and dictators only interested in their own power and profit and not the prosperity of the nation they rule. Meanwhile the World Powers continue the exploitation, mostly through private companies, as well as political meddling. They are poor because they first had the British and Spanish and other European boots on their neck which was then swapped out for a local boot which the US happily added Lead to.

25 Minutes and he still managed to avoid discussing how automation has also removed jobs from farms. One tractor can do in a day what used to take 100 men a week and that is nothing new, but if they even remove the need for a driver...

Rails are one of many core services that are always best to keep Government Owned and Run. Other examples being Water, Power, Gas, Schools, Prisons, Hospitals, Major airports...

There's a few big regional cities in Victoria that put Alice Springs to shame. Populations from 50-100,000 and largely servicing agriculture and industry. Obviously Victoria is a lot greener than the central part, but where Rivers Run, Mildura is good 500km from the coast. But yeah, nothing significant.

You'd think after 100 years the military would learn, but nope, always sacrificing actual capability in pursuit of one ship/plane/vehicle performing the roles of 3 different vehicles and as a Jack of All Trades, failing to be a Master of any one, or indeed functional in any one. They could have at least waited till the Sea Trials of the first two ships were over before ordering more.

Melbourne's Grand Prix Loses Taxpayers 10s of Millions every year and the amount generally increases every year.

Millions of people without a job, and Billionaires increase their hoarded wealth. Its a Lose-Lose for the Economy. And sadly inevitable. As for Electric, The cost of the Batteries also has to be fitted in, especially as we are already running low on Lithium.

They'll probably transition from methane to Hydrogen over the coming decades, once mass scale Green Hydrogen Production are finished and the Hydrogen powered cars see widespread adoption. Which will happen about the time governments put the same effort into H2 development as they are currently doing with Lithium-Ion.

You're missing at least one flight on the Air Asia X flight map. Avalon Airport (Victoria, Australia, 70km from Melbourne) to Kuala Lumpur. Had twice daily flights for 2 years and it was actually working for them.

If Taiwan just baccepted that it is the Republic of Taiwan and stopped pretending its the Republic of China, that would be 90% of what they need to be recognised, although the unDemocratic Monarchy of China will of course still make a fuss, it'd be a moot point if Taiwan stopped calling itself China.

Got the same proprietary charge nonsense in Australia too. If they don't stanadarise they will never be competitive, they are just shooting their entire industry io the foot by refusing to cooperate. In addition to all tghe other issues which mean EVs will always suck., H2 is the Future.

Wouldn't have fuel shortages if they'd gone with solar power. It's Africa for crying out loud.

@callumscott953 actually meant radio telescopes. Lack of local radio interference due to its isolation.
