  1. That bucket looked like glass at first, I was expecting it to explode with deadly shrapnel. Upon reflection, had to be plastic, which is much safer. I remember the old science demonstration in school where they drop a smidge of potassium and magnesium in water to show it explode and vroom around.

  4. I grew up saying Centigrade, and still say it most of the time. I always assumed that part of the reason they chose Celsius is because its still degrees C either way. I also heard in school or somewhere that Celsius Thermometers originally only went to 80. Not sure where that idea came from.

Not for the Trek reference, but for the disproved planet Vulcan that was closer than Mercury, and it does share the Latin naming convention that all but one of the other planets share. Incidentally, well past time they changed the name of Uranus to Caelus.
