  1. I miss the classic state motto plates from the 80s. In particular I miss the Green on White 'Victoria - The Garden State' plates.

  2. My favourite is the Red and Black Essendon Footnball club plate, followed by the old green on white Victoria - Garden State. The new narrow white on black narrow plates are bad because plate cameras don't always read them, and the government ones piss me off becauzse they are usually attached to $100k-200k vehicles that the Taxpayers should not have to pay for.

  4. In Australia both front and back plates are mandatory and must be obscured. Trailers over a certain size need to be registered separately, but if they are small enough you can stick a hand-made plate on the back with your reg-number. Motorcycles only need back plate. Our reg stickers used to be attached to the upper left side of the windscreen and colour coded each year so cops could instantly spot an unregistered vehicle. Now they have to rely on scanning the plate and an online database. The plates don't change as long as you keep the registration up.
