  1. The Bunyip and the Malingee are the only two I have even heard of, the rest must be local legends, the Bunyip is the only famous one. I don't know about any Gippsland Cat, but there is a legend of a Puma in the Grampians that escaped from a circus. They are all pure myth, apart from the cats which are feral domestic cats, which can grow to be several feet long. I'm surprised they didn't mention the Rainbow Serpent which is an aboriginal myth common to many groups across Australia, but as its a Dreamtime creature and not contemporary I guess it bears omission.
