  1. Goes back further than that, although Italian influence is at the heart of the current scene. But Coffee was big in Melbourne even in the 19th century, used to be a massive hotel in Ocean Grove called The Coffee Palace, demolished in the 60s sadly.

  4. We don't even call Australia Down Under, that's a foreign expression. The upside-down thing is just annoying.

  5. In North Queensland its illegal to have any standing water around to try and slow mosquito breeding due to viruses. Down south their just a bloody nuisance, generally less annoying than flies, but a lot more itchy.
