  1. 164c a litre is actually cheaper than the petrol in Melbourne right now. When my family took the Nullabor as a kid the petrol was $1 compared to 58c back home, how times have changed.

  2. Nullabor literally means Treeless Plain, and that's what the true Nullabor is, couple hundred miles of nothing but saltbush and spinifex. It includes the famous 90 Mile Straight, the longest straight stretch of road in Australia. Also in some areas the massive cliffs of The Great Australian Bight are walking distance from the road. The area was sparsely populated even in pre-history with only a couple of cave sites of note.

  3. Its the only highway between Adelaide and Perth and its single lane. You'll see a lot of trucks and a few cars, but most tourists fly over. Their loss, there are some great spots along the route, including The Big Kangaroo on the border.
