Netball was invented when a teacher in New Orleans received a diagram of a basketball court and the positions players might take, and believed it was literal in that each position was set and that you could not move with the ball. Little more complicated than that, but its the gist. The jerseys the girls wear designate their position and they can't move out of their part of the court. You can't move at all with the ball, only the Goal Shooters and Goal Attack players can score and contact is strictly prohibited. Its not meant to be exclusively a girls sport, but you never hear of the male leagues.

  3. React to a History of Netball vid, there is a few, although they tend to be current players reiterating what they know. I have seen a proper documentary vid of it somewhere, but can't remember who by.
