  1. They have a very distinctive laughing call which wasn't really shown in this vid. Google it, hoohoohoohaahaahaa. Also subject of a class Australian song, Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree. And the kids added second verse Kookaburra sits on the electric wire.

  2. They're cheeky buggers, they'll steal your snag right out of the tongs when you lift it off the barbie, happened to me when I was 10 at Canarvon Gorge National Park. They also showed a slide there of two kookaburras that each had hold of a piece of bacon and sat staring at each other for hours while cars drove around them, unwilling to let go.
