  2. I still find it odd that the US does their taxes at the start of the year. I'm in Australia and we do our taxes in July-August because that's when the new financial year is, based on Northern Hemisphere seasons.

  3. The biggest issue with zoning restrictions isn't even the old suburbs where people don't want new developments, its brand new suburbs that are 100% zoned for single family homes. This is a major issue in Australia where new suburbs are going up in every city every year, but there hasn't been any medium or high density housing built for decades apart from retirement communities and the occasional premium apartment block built for the views where a single bedroom flat costs upwards of 500k. No rental options available. The cost of housing in California is still cheap compared to Melbourne where the median often tops $1 mil.
