14:04 The Blue thing, brings up an issue with every single digital alarm clock currently available. Digital clocks used to have dim Red LEDs that provided an illuminated display you could in the dark, but dim enough that they didn't illuminate anything else. All current models of Digital Clock have bright white or blue numbers that cast enough light to navigate by, you could almost read by it. And white light shining on your face while trying to sleep, not conducive to a good night sleep, especially as we are evolved to wake up when white light shines on our face. I fixed mine by taping some red cellophane over the front, added cost of about 50 cents to make a vastly more useful product.

I remember camping trips as a child, when dad had to replace a broken mantle, would sometimes take several before he got one working as the first few would be burnt away as they weren't quote positioned right or were damaged.. Pretty sure those were cloth ones.

hah, origins of the noun Limelight, interesting. Also, rest of the video, very interesting.

First time in ages a Pun has made me laugh rather then wince. Good work there.

It does seem stupid that they aren't marked as switched when installed. There should be a visible indicator on the panel. Like that grey outlet you installed, but it should be standardised.
2
Add in brake lights also being your rear regular lights.
2
That limit switch and its self heat function explains a lot.

Its nice how in order to improve can safety can openers have evolved from leaving a sharp lid that can be thrown away, to making the can top itself razor sharp. I wonder why you didn't discuss the second kind, maybe its not so common in the US? This is definitely an improvement on both kinds and should be the new standard.

So, does the rack Transform?
1
Blinkers that are not visible from the sides because they are only mounted square in the back and front is also an issue.
1
Very useful. Now as a followup. Laundry detergents: powders vs liquids. I always understood powders to be better, but in my experience you tend to get residue in the clothes.
1
Have you tried cellophane?
1
Ovens have temperature dials too.
1
Do we really want a headlight that turns off when you use the blinker though?
1
12V, so it can run off a battery then? Because I would've thought the natural comparison is to an Esky, not a full fridge. The car fridge road trip option you mentioned, as well as BBQs and Picnics. So please compare it to the passive insulation of an Esky.

Finally I know how Long Play works and what the trade-off is! Wish I'd known it 20 years ago, but hey, yay for new knowledge!
1
The VHS was sharper.
1
I always thought it stood for Video Head System. The more you know I guess.
1
Except that oranges are not naturally orange. Probably has something to do with the Dutch and international trade.

They remained popular in Australia into the 80s, but the modern style of ugly square box with right angles that came into vogue in the 90s and has taken over since tends to lack them. There is a movement now towards exterior mechanical blinds that are flush to the window, rattles less in wind I'll say that for them, but they're expensive and you can't see through them.
1
I just call it a Gas Lamp.
1
You never covered Tilly!
1
I thought Freezer burn was when you burn yourself on something from the Freezer because its so cold it blisters.
1
Also known as a Water Cooler, which is much nicer than Swamp Cooler, which must be an American slang as I have never heard it.
1
You also shouldn't pull on the cord to unplug things as it can pull the cord out of the plug.
1
OK, we now need you to do videos on the electric piano and the melotron whatever that is.
1
I would not trust automatic headlights. I do wish they wpuld automatically tirn off when the ignition is off though, it can beep but not turn off?
1
The weird thing is you'd think it would save them money to just use white LEDs, especially when the caps are coloured anyway.
1
I think the small commercial ones are probably designed for Restaurants and such, more practical than at home use.
1
12:30 Glossing over history. But the history is more interesting than the device! Please cover it in Connextras.
1
I always worried about the Clapper turning the TV/lights off when I am clapping at a funny joke in a show. The idea that the show itself would turn it off, yeah irksome.
1
We had to rely on powdered milk when I was a very young child. From what I remember, its pretty watery when mixed.
1
I don't care what the research says, the new blue lights barely illimubate their own bulbs, you can't see anything by them, they have no 'cast' at all. The old yellow lights provide enough light to read by for several metres and plenty of light to see by for a 10m circle. This is obvious to anyone who looks at them, at night.
1
White indicator glass/plastic with yellow bulbs are also bad as they aren't visible in bright light. Orange shades need to be required.
1
And even worse, combined Rear Light, Brake Light and Turn Signals.
1
Hollotapes? Did Fallout take the idea from a real concept?
1
Tbf. At leadt here in Aust. Only about 5% of drivers indicate correctly and consistently. I have to treat every car as if it could turn at any moment.
1
Well with MREs you put them in boiled water on medium heat. The packaging prevents them getting soggy. And there is probably all sorts of technical details in the food selection.
1
Research be damned, I can tell with my eyes that the new LED blue lights barely illuminate the ground directly underneath them, the old yellow lamps provide light in a broad circle, enough to read by and showing up the road comfortably, the new LED ones are bloody useless, all they illuminate is their own bulb.
1
God, we've explained to you the superiority of switched outlets so many times. Being able to turn things off at the wall has so many uses, not least among them saving on standby power of devices, but they also dramatically increase safety. Was it last week you were talking about sticking forks in outlets?
1
Luna Park in Melbourne has a couple dozen of those antique Pinball machines, not sure when they're from exactly, but they're certainly from before the 80s. Probably the 50s or 60s.
1
If I saw one light on the right and a lught on the lefy at a different height and style i'd think one was a turn signal or rear light.
1
A video on the tankless would be useful, but I presume they just work like old Navy boilers, thin pipes heat small amounts of water quickly, which then combine into a larger pipe at the end?
1
I remember the testers, but not the Temperature requirements. Maybe that's part of why I had so much trouble with them, pressing hard enough was already a trial and a pain, but temperatures in Australia aren't often a comfortable 21C.
1
Doesn't matter how many times you play the Trading Places ring,. I can't hear the pitch change.
1
I grew up with an upside-down fridge, where the freezer was at the bottom. Which made perfect sense to me as you take stuff from the freezer less often. I was boggled when I discovered that my fridge was the upside down one and not those crazy american fridges with the freezer at the top.
1
One thing this video achieved. Having just put a load of cans in my fridge the other day, I should probably toss my milk. I just hope the stuff in the freezer is fine. Also I should get a couple of them fridge thermometers.
1
Multi-Modal Reflection Sorting.
1
This is also why you should always turn off a power switch before plugging or unplugging anything, indeed for safety reasons they should always be turned off unless something is plugged in. An option mission from American sockets which are just the socket with no included switch.
1
If you had a switch on your plugs you could turn off the current before picking up the steel rule, or when unplugging those right-angle plugs.
