  1. Geopolitics are important for Ukraine. But not for Russia. For Russia it's just about power. And not power amongst other nations, but inside their own country. Ukraine's decision to join Europe makes Putin look bad in the eyes of Russians, as if it is his personal failure, and Russian regime in reality is very brittle. Putin knows about his crimes and corruption and he fears that people might overthrow him. So what he does to remain in power? He makes the whole world hate Russia, so that every problem that there is in Russia could be put on "sanctions" and "Western hostility". "It's not me to blame, I'm just a victim here. We are all victims here."
