The real problem with sanctioning a regime like this is it the people it hurts are not the people who are making the decisions, and because it's not actually a democracy, and people being hurt have no voice towards the people who are making the decisions. Do you really think the Kremlin is short of anything right now? Do you think they are having trouble feeding themselves? Not a chance, it's the common people that are hurt, but they have no say, and those that do don't care

@BuiltSimilarG what they target and what they hit are two different things, with the exception of a couple of yachts seized, the sanctions on the wealthy in Russia have Zero effect. They can get everything they need at home, and through intermediaries, they don't need to get anything directly from the West. The other thing that people fail to understand, is that the rich in Russia are that way because of Putin, he has power over them, not the other way around.

TLDR has never been unbiassed. They've claimed several times to be, but in reality they have a major Left wing bias that shows through constantly. As for the title, I'm not sure that's bias, but it is sensationalism, and I agree, they should be more careful with that.

Realistically, there's only one way that this does not escalate further, and that's some form of regime change within Russia. All other options lead to further escalation. If Putin ends up successful in the invasion of Ukraine, it seems highly unlikely that he would stop there. If Putin believes that he is not going to be successful in the invasion of Ukraine, then he will do what so many people do when backed into a corner, which is escalate further. Either way leads to all out world war III. I just don't see any other option that leads to de-escalation other than regime change in Russia. But even there we see risks, just because you get someone new in power in Russia doesn't mean that that person will actually be better, someone strong enough to get rid of Putin is unlikely to be a meek diplomat, they're more likely to be another strong man, and it's worrying that that person may feel that Putin failed by being too weak rather than too strong.

You lost me when you described Nazis as far right, Nazis are a left-wing construct, Nazi stands for National socialist party, socialist it's right there in the name, and in fact in all of their policies. At no point in history has there ever been a right-wing Nazi. They've always been left wing. It's a favorite smear of the left to call people Nazis, but that doesn't make it true.

Gas prices have increased enough that even with the decreased sales, Russia is still making just as much (or more) money than before.
