  3.  @rifleman4005  Yes, inflation is caused by big government deficits and money printing. That doesn't mean it's the only cause. Anything that drives up the cost of doing business drives up inflation. As does anything that drives up the supply of money, or drives down the availability of goods. There are many things that cause inflation, but this is definitely one of them.

  4.  @intothevoid7641  and by wealthy individuals, you mean every doctor in the country, among others. Mostly small businesses. I mean, if you don't want any doctors in this country, this is an excellent way to go about it!

  5. One of the dirty secrets of the economy in general is that what's best for any individual, is often what's worst for the economy as a whole. The best advice for any individual is to live within your means, avoid debt, save as much as you can. The best thing for the economy as a whole is for people to have as much debt as they can reliably service (no more, bankruptcy is bad for the economy!), and spend every penny. The good news for responsible people is that most people are irresponsible.

  6. I've never really heard from someone who's achieved FIRE, and focuses on the RE part. FI is always the important part, it gives you the flexibility to follow your passions. Nothing says you can't make money doing that, but the key is that you don't have to.
