  1. Ask the politicians. The reason automakers use dealers is that the law requires it. The only companies that sell direct had to get special waivers that were only granted because they did not have existing dealerships, and even then are not allowed to sell in several states

  2. I tried that, my insurance company refused to tell me what they would pay. They told me the only way they would tell me what they would pay out for a vehicle is if I had already totaled it and was making a claim. Car dealers aren't the only scummy companies out there!
