I had an F350 for work for a couple years, and I agree with the statement about having trouble keeping the rear wheels on the ground over bumps. I found it really slowed me down on rural dirt roads where I ended up driving significantly slower than I otherwise would have just because the rear end kept skittering around. I'm glad the lightning does not have that issue. Otherwise, I actually loved that truck, despite it being the most stripped down version you could find. So I really feel like the lightning might be in my future.

So basically the cybertruck's only feeling quality was a stereo... Ummm... Yeah...

The Hummer EV is the only one in production at all, and it's basically twice the price of any of these, so not really competing. The Sierra and Silverado EVs are both coming soon, and expected to compete in this space, but by that time we're also supposed to see Ford's T3 and Ram REV, so it wouldn't really be fair to pit the next generation trucks against the last generation. Better to wait for their release and compare them to what's in the market at that time.

Difficult? Almost all level 2 public chargers around here put out 80 Amps, and if your house was built in the past 2 decades it likely is no harder to install an 80 amp EVSE than anything smaller.
2
@viplav76 no harder to get than a 50 amp circuit in most homes built in the past 2 decades. Code where I am has dictated 200A service entrance for about that long in new construction, and once you're running wire, the difference for a bigger circuit is pretty much negligible. But realistically there isn't really even a need to have that at home where you have all night to charge, it's the ability to use the many 80A public level 2 chargers when away from DC fast charging that really makes the bigger onboard charger a godsend

It compares at nearly twice the price, so....

Well, if Ford never does a single update, that will blow Tesla out of the water. Tesla has removed so many features from my model S through mandatory software updates, and made the UI so much worse, that I am now extremely reluctant to ever get any vehicle with OTA capability ever again.

Better offroad? ROFL, you crack me up! So far, the cybertruck has REPEATEDLY shown that is BY FAR the worst of the 3 offroad.

At 80% state of charge, it finally drops down to 60 kW, my Tesla model S is below 60 kW by about 30-40%, and drops much further the higher the charge state. So I don't think I would have any complaints about the charging speed of this vehicle!

They are, that's what regenerative braking is. If you mean while you're not trying to brake, then what you're looking for is a perpetual motion machine, and the laws of physics have something to say about that.
1
Exactly! He said "nobody uses it" except basically every generator ever made, which is what this replaces on a work site.

What do you mean not over the bed and cab? There are literally thousands of aftermarket parts available for the f150, and MANY choices for racks and bars. This is one place the lightning has an absolutely massive advantage by sticking to the same basic form factor as the best selling truck in North America.

Why would you compare to a truck that doesn't yet exist?
1
This is Tesla. I certainly wouldn't assume anything!

I love how he complains about the slow charging on a vehicle that charges at 3 to 4 times the speed my model S can charge. I can only get to 100 kW when the battery is below 10%, by 20% I'm down at about 70 kW and at 30% I'm at about 50 kW by 50 or 60% I'm down at about 30 kW.

The software is one reason to NEVER buy a Tesla. I have one, never again. Next vehicle has Android auto!

Try driving ANY electric car before taking about something you've obviously never experienced.

Tank turn never came to pass, and Rivian have stated that it never will. If you want tank turn, you'll have to look at the Mercedes G wagon EV

They shrank it for range and cost. it already is a fraction of the range they promised, and at significantly more money. if it were bigger it would be less range yet, and cost more too.
1
So the only truck you would buy is the one that doesn't yet exist because of a promise they haven't yet delivered on... In that case you should buy my fictional upcoming EV with a 400gwh battery!
1
Those light bars are LED, when you combine them with all the other lights on the truck, they still use less power than a single incandescent headlight bulb from 40 or 50 years ago.
1
Tesla promised a power sunshade when they launched the model s in 2012. they still haven't done it. Ford does though....

@scottbreseke716 nothing like the built in power retractable ones every other car with a glass roof comes standard with.
