Wow, what a flip-flop from the mayor of Couts! He was previously extremely anti-trucker, I see he's done a complete 180. I bet he looked at the polls and found out that his small town massively supports this.

As government jobs, hiring in these fields are all very heavily female, and non-white. Government jobs do not ever hire based on skill set, governments hire exclusively based on gender and race.
3
You've also got the order of things backwards, we didn't have the inflation until after they spent the 50%. It was the spending of the 50% that caused the inflation.
3
Not sure what children you've met, but even kindergarteners tend to be more mature than politicians!

I hardly say nickel and diming when they offered 9% which is significantly more than anyone in the private sector would make, and this is for people who are already paid more than 8% higher than private sector equivalent, and have benefits that the private sector could only dream of, plus that defined benefit pension plan that doesn't exist in the private sector anymore. In fact my only complaint so far in how the government handled the negotiations was that they are willing to offer way too much to these entitled brats. And the union is asking for 25 to 47%, and walked away from nine. And no, I don't support our politicians getting raises based on the performance they've had, but I don't think we should be using whataboutism to distract from the issue at hand. These are two separate issues.

There are actually quite a few good independent unbiased media sources, you can tell they're unbiased because the radical left-wing ones are calling them Nazis.

She's my mp, and I am thoroughly disgusted. That said it'll make the choice in the next election difficult, vote for Rempel even though she backstabbed us? Realistically there's a good chance I'm going to vote PPC anyway. As much as it's extremely obvious that everyone wants Pierre, I have a feeling the conservative party will find some way to mess this up.
2
Don't stay home on election day! If you're not going to vote conservative, vote PPC instead. Staying home is a vote for Trudeau.
2
That's not the way Canada works. Before determining if a protest is legal or not, you have to first decide whether the protest skews left or right, if to the left, it is legal regardless of any other factors such as level of violence, impact to society, etc. If the protest is deemed to skew to the right (or even just somewhat center) then it is automatically illegal, regardless of how peaceful, and must be crushed no matter the resources required, or methods needed. It's the Canadian way!

OAS is a federal program that applies across the entire country. This is not Quebec specific. I was actually shocked that the bloc's 2 demands were both national, not provincial.
2
Actually the government is the one and only employer that actually can force them back to work. They could also bring in outside workers, who I'm sure would be more than happy to work for the wages that these people scorn
2
This is my question as well, firefighters and paramedics are not generally federal employees, yet they were top of her list. What pension are they talking about? I don't even get a pension except CPP, does this mean I can take CPP earlier? I highly doubt that's the case.

If you're having any trouble figuring out which party the people are from, it should only take about 2 seconds of their speaking to be pretty clear!
1
Ever wonder why your insurance rates are so high?
1
When your organization is receiving millions of dollars from taxpayers, and the Liberal party controls those dollars, you have a lot of incentive to do what the Liberal party asks.
1
@scrub44 The question was why was he so tone deaf a couple days ago!
1
Considering the type of people in the liberal party? Look at some of their dear leader's costumes over the years! At least this one didn't smear black on his face while wearing it.
1
I'm a paramedic, I don't have a pension at all. Of course that also makes me wonder what on earth she's talking about here, because as a paramedic, I don't work for the federal government! So unless she's talking CPP, which seems highly unlikely, I don't think this does anything.
1
@drsh0ckalu no party is expected to win a seat in their first election, but they did more than double their percent of the popular vote, and are now way higher than the Green party. It will just continue to grow from there, especially if the conservative party keeps trying to out left wing the Liberals. Best thing that can happen for the PPC is for yet another left-wing nut Job to get the top job of the conservative party.

Don't worry the debt to GDP ratio won't stay like that long, the government is in the process of doing everything it can to increase that number. Starting by taking out as much debt as it possibly can, while waging war on anything that might contribute to GDP.
1
They do. Unfortunately the eventual negotiated settlement is almost guaranteed to contain a back pay clause that will cover that amount. In the meantime they have to rely on strike pay paid by the union

@onalethataapadile7452 Canada producing more oil does not affect climate change at all. In fact it's probably good for the environment. The oil will be consumed either way, it can be generated in countries with no rules, no environmental standards, and horrible human rights violations. Or we can generate oil in Canada where we have the toughest regulations in the world, and up until a month ago a good human rights record. Canada should be doing everything it can to extract and export as much as possible. If you are against the Canadian oil and gas sector, you are actually for the war in Ukraine, nuclear weapons in Iran, and human rights violations in an untold number of countries. You are also very much against the environment. Not to mention that the oil and gas sector is one of the biggest contributors to all of Canada's socialist programs like healthcare and education which you are obviously against as well. In fact you are against Canada's current standard of living.
1
Have you been asleep for the entire time this government has been in power, they have been extremely clear on this subject. Canadians do not have rights. I don't think they have once been at all vague on this point, they are crystal clear that we do not have the right to assembly, the right to free speech, or the right to freedom of movement. They've also been clear that we do not have the right to be free from discrimination based on race, or gender. Basically they have declared that we do not have any rights at all.
1
It's how the radical left operates. Step one create a problem, step two wait for people to beg you to solve it, step three take those people's money, subtract a whole bunch of bureaucracy, give a pittance back to them, step four claim credit for saving people. And that's exactly how the pandemic worked out. The pandemic didn't destroy the economy, government mandated shutdowns did. Then the government gave handouts, by stealing from the future. Now the cost of those handouts have come back to roost in the form of higher inflation, and the government just boasts about how great it is that they saved us from their own shutdowns.

It's always been from the first to the 11th for me. The legion who sells them actually says from the last Friday in October until November 11th.

Global hasn't been TOO bad so far, but CBC and CTV are running non-stop hit pieces on him already, and have been since long before he announced any intention to run for party leader. Global is still biassed, but not nearly as bad as the other 2
1
Scarily, of the big three media, global is actually the least biased! You should see the garbage that CBC and CTV are putting out!
1
They're all horrendously biassed towards their paymaster Trudeau. That said, Global seems to be the best of the rotten lot. CTV and CBC are both completely lost causes.
1
This is by design, Canada is ruled by the east, and doesn't care what the West thinks.
1
Yes it's far better if we trample our unarmed peaceful protesters with horses, call them names, round them up and arrest them. We wouldn't want actual democracy in this country!
1
Thing is if Pierre gets the conservative leadership, it will put me in a real tough spot, because Michelle Rempel Garner is my mp, so to vote for Pierre I would have to vote for her. Of course if the conservative party screws this up and Pierre doesn't get the leadership, my voting decision becomes much easier, ppc!
1
CBC and CTV both have a lot to lose if Pierre gets in, global too, but amazingly they are actually the least biased of the three,
1
Just remember, according to Canadian police, if you videoed them committing the crime, you should not post that video anywhere, because doing so would be against the privacy rights of the criminal.
