What you're missing about aptera is that it isn't a car at all, it's a motorcycle. It's classed that way because it has none of the safety features that are required for a vehicle to be a car. This means that most jurisdictions you'll need a special license to be allowed to drive it, you'll have to wear a helmet while driving it, and you're in a lot of trouble in any form of collision because there are no safety features. For a purely economic standpoint, it makes zero sense to put solar cells on a vehicle. Put them on the garage instead, it will save you a lot of money, while generating a lot more, and allowing you to park inside while you're at it.

@bobhilder1469 then inform me, because if these are not classified as motorcycles, then that means they're not allowed on the roads at all.

@bobhilder1469 lol, their website confirms what I said, it's legally a motorcycle. And it meets all safety standards FOR A MOTORCYCLE which means zero crash protection. And although some specific US states allow you to drive it without a special license, most justifications around the world require a motorcycle license. Before telling me I'm wrong, you might want to read your own sources.

@orkin2525 then put the panels on the roof of the parkade at work, or as a canopy over the parking lot. Solar panels make zero sense on vehicles, but make a lot of sense over parking spots.
