  2. Alimony made perfect sense 80 years ago when women were forced to leave the workplace when they got married, and were unlikely to ever be able to work again. These days, the only time I can see it, is for a very short period of time, and only if one person left the workforce to stay home, and needs a short period of retraining to get back in. If she had a job while in the relationship, then there is no excuse for alimony. My wife makes twice as much money as I do, but I can guarantee that I wouldn't get alimony if we split up. Because I'm male, and alimony doesn't go that direction.
