I bought a used engagement ring, I spent less than 3 days (not months) of my income on it. My wife knows this, and she loves it. We've been married 12 years. If she had a problem with me being fiscally responsible, I never would have proposed. Our whole wedding and honeymoon together cost less than that woman thinks you should spend on the ring alone. And we think they were both absolutely amazing, and can't think of a single thing we would do different.
