Nearly so. 7mm Remington magnum was invented in 1962. Although I have to be a bit suspicious of a magnum power cartridge without the belt of the belted magnums. However, my understanding is that the belt aids quick extraction more than helping to contain the pressure of the load.

Much hotter. More like the .276 British of the P13. But that brings up the question of why 7mm Remington magnum, a VERY popular hunting cartridge never found favor among military and police tactical marksmen.

That .280 Ross sounds like a real barn burner of a cartridge. 140gr pill at over 3,000 fps is pretty impressive, but seems almost "quaint" compared to the intermediate power cartridges that most militaries went to after WWII.

Pretty impressive sectional density in a 180gr .284 caliber projectile, but it must have kicked like a mule.
